Non-invasive pain relief and accelerated healing
Class IV laser therapy uses high-intensity light to promote deep tissue healing, reduce inflammation and relieve both acute and chronic pain. It is a drug-free option for sports injuries, arthritis, nerve pain and post-surgical inflammation, with no downtime and no side effects.
At Biodynamic Therapies we use the Summus Medical Laser P4, a high-power Class IV therapeutic laser. Class IV lasers are distinguished by their higher power output, which allows the light to penetrate well beyond the skin to reach muscles, joints, ligaments and nerves, something lower-powered Class 3B devices cannot do to the same depth.
How laser therapy works
Focused red and near-infrared light at specific wavelengths passes safely through the skin into the target tissue. There it is absorbed by the mitochondria, the energy centres of your cells, which respond by producing more ATP. That boost in cellular energy reduces inflammation, improves circulation, speeds tissue repair and increases collagen production, so injuries heal faster and hurt less.
Most patients feel nothing more than a gentle warmth during treatment, and many notice relief within hours as the healing response builds.
Laser therapy integrates easily into a wider plan and is often paired with shockwave, EMTT or osteopathy to get stubborn injuries moving again.
Conditions we treat
Class IV laser therapy is used for:
- Chronic pain, tendonitis, bursitis, sprains and strains
- Neck, shoulder, hip and back pain
- Muscle tears, joint sprains, runner’s knee and shin splints
- Sciatica, pinched nerves, neuropathy and carpal tunnel syndrome
- TMJ dysfunction and post-surgical recovery
- Wounds, scars and other soft tissue repair
What to expect
Treatment is painless. Some people notice mild warmth or tingling as the laser moves over the area, and sessions usually last 10 to 20 minutes. You can resume normal activities immediately. Because the effect is cumulative, most plans involve multiple sessions, typically spaced 2 to 5 days apart, and your practitioner will map out the right number for your condition.
