Targeted pain relief and deep tissue healing
Focal shockwave therapy is a non-invasive, evidence-based treatment that delivers concentrated acoustic energy to deep tissue structures. High-energy pulses converge at a single point in the body, reaching tendons, ligaments, bone and soft tissue that radial waves cannot. It is widely used in sports medicine, rehabilitation and pain management for chronic tendinopathies, calcifications, non-healing fractures and acute musculoskeletal injuries.
At Biodynamic Therapies we use Storz Medical technology, the same systems trusted in leading clinics worldwide, so treatment is precise, controlled and tailored to the exact source of your pain.
How focal shockwave works
A handheld applicator emits focused shockwaves at the treatment site, triggering a deep biological response. The waves increase blood flow, stimulate cell regeneration and collagen production, break down scar tissue and calcifications, and support the growth of new blood vessels. They also help reset pain receptors in the area, so relief often begins before the tissue has fully healed. No anesthesia is needed and discomfort is minimal.
Ideal for pain that has not responded to physiotherapy, rest or medication. Many patients notice improvement after the first session, with significant results after 3 to 5 treatments.
Focal shockwave can be combined with EMTT, Class IV laser or osteopathy to accelerate recovery, and every protocol is customized to your condition, your response and your healing goals.
Conditions we treat
Focal shockwave is particularly effective for chronic conditions, and it is just as useful for acute injuries, where it speeds up the body's natural repair and shortens recovery after sprains, strains, fractures and surgery:
- Acute injuries and recovery after surgery, where faster tissue repair gets you moving again sooner
- Plantar fasciitis, Achilles and patellar tendinopathy
- Tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow and rotator cuff tendinopathy
- Calcific tendinitis of the shoulder and other calcium deposits
- Delayed or non-union fractures, stress fractures and bone marrow edema
- Frozen shoulder, lower back pain, neck pain and myofascial pain
- Muscle strains, ligament sprains and overuse injuries such as runner’s knee and shin splints
What to expect
Your first session includes an assessment of your condition followed by a focused treatment plan. During treatment you will feel a mild pulsing or tapping as the applicator delivers targeted shockwaves; the intensity can be adjusted for your comfort. Sessions last about 15 to 20 minutes, and most plans involve 3 to 6 sessions spaced 5 to 14 days apart. You can return to normal activities right away.
